ROI Dashboard

Overview

The ROI Dashboard helps you understand the financial impact of bot threats on your business. It estimates the cost savings DataDome delivers across fraud prevention, infrastructure protection, and operational efficiency.

📘

The ROI Dashboard is available to all plans and accessible to Admin users.

What does it measure?

The ROI Dashboard quantifies savings across seven key performance indicators (KPIs):

KPIWhat it measures
Credential StuffingCost of account takeovers prevented by blocking credential stuffing attempts
Payment FraudCard processing fees avoided by stopping carding attacks on checkout flows
Content TheftRevenue protected from scrapers that duplicate content, undercut pricing, or harm SEO
Ad FraudAd spend protected from fake clicks on paid campaigns (full savings require Ad Protect)
Internal Human ResourcesTime saved by security and operations teams on manual bot investigation
Infrastructure CostBandwidth and compute costs reduced by filtering out bot traffic
Downtime CostRevenue loss avoided from DDoS-induced outages
💡

Each KPI combines DataDome detection data with configurable business inputs to produce a tailored savings estimate.

How does it work?

The ROI Dashboard uses a combination of:

  • Platform data — real traffic metrics from your DataDome integration (e.g., blocked requests, detected attacks, DDoS durations)
  • Industry benchmarks — conservative default assumptions based on DataDome intelligence across hundreds of customer deployments
  • Your business inputs — editable values such as monthly revenue, average hourly labor cost, or cost per ad click, so you can refine estimates to match your environment

Default values are provided to get you started. You can adjust editable inputs directly in the dashboard UI to reflect your actual business context for a more accurate picture.

Customizing your ROI report

You can personalize the dashboard in two ways:

  1. Edit financial inputs — Adjust values like monthly revenue, cost per request, or hourly labor rates to match your business
  2. Toggle KPIs on or off — Show only the KPIs relevant to your use case or audience
📘

Some assumptions (e.g., the percentage of bot traffic attributed to scraping) are based on DataDome's internal intelligence and are not configurable. These reflect conservative, data-backed cross-sector averages.

When to use it

The ROI Dashboard is designed to help you track and communicate the value DataDome brings to your organization over time.

ScenarioHow it helps
Tracking your savingsMonitor the ongoing financial impact of DataDome's protection across fraud, infrastructure, and operations
Reporting to stakeholdersGenerate a clear, quantified summary you can share with leadership, finance, or security teams to demonstrate return on investment
Evaluating product coverageIdentify which threat categories have the highest cost impact and assess whether additional products (e.g., Ad Protect, DDoS Protect) could increase your savings
Preparing business reviewsUse the dashboard as a data source for QBRs or internal security reviews with ready-made ROI figures
💡

For the most meaningful estimates, ensure your editable inputs (revenue, labor costs, CPC) reflect your actual business context.

Tips for getting the most out of the dashboard

  • Refine your inputs — Default values are a starting point. Adjusting revenue, labor costs, and CPC to your actuals significantly improves accuracy.
  • Match KPIs to your audience — Security stakeholders care about credential stuffing and payment fraud; infrastructure teams focus on bandwidth and downtime; marketing teams want to see ad fraud impact.
  • Estimate revenue if needed — If you don't have an exact figure, public sources like Crunchbase or LinkedIn company data can help approximate online revenue.

FAQ

Q: Why does Internal Human Resources show $0? It shows $0 when no attack notifications were detected during the selected retention period. This is normal when no threats met the alert threshold.

Q: Can I customize cost inputs like hourly rates or infrastructure costs? Yes — these values are editable directly in the UI, allowing you to tailor the ROI to your environment.

Q: What about Ad Fraud savings — are they real savings or estimates? It depends on your setup:

  • With Ad Protect active: the dashboard shows actual savings from blocked fraudulent clicks
  • With Bot Protect only: the dashboard shows potential losses from detected (but not blocked) ad fraud — useful for understanding the opportunity

Q: Can I choose which KPIs to display? Yes — you can toggle individual KPIs on or off to focus the report on the most relevant areas for your business.
