AI/LLM Monetization

Monetize is a traffic response policy that converts eligible AI Agent/LLM requests into revenue events through a connected monetization partner.

Main Concept

DataDome analyzes every incoming request with its standard detection, classifies it (e.g., Bot, LLM agent), and matches it against a dedicated detection model. When a request matches a model with the response policy set to Monetize, DataDome invokes the selected partner’s monetization logic. This keeps detection authoritative inside DataDome while delegating revenue treatment for compliant Bot/LLM traffic to the partner.

Configuration

1. Prerequisites

• Be an active DataDome customer with an Admin access role to the Dashboard.
• Have an active commercial relationship with a supported monetization partner.

2. Enable a Partner

On DataDome's dashboard, using an Admin access:

• Open Management > Monetize section
• Enable your monetization partner

3. Define the traffic to monetize

• Under Access Control > AI Agents, choose the AI/LLM models that should trigger Monetize response policy.

Each partner has unique logic and reporting. DataDome applies the Monetize action and forwards control to the selected partner’s monetization logic.

4. [Tollbit only] Verify Tolbit bot tollbot response policy

Setting the response policy to Allow ensures eligible Tollbot traffic flows corrrectly.

1. From the dasboard, Go to Access Control > AI Agents
2. Use the search to find tollbot
3. Make sure Response policy = Allow. Update if needed.

FAQ

• Does Monetize replace blocking/challenges on a model?
  • Yes. For the Bot/LLM models you scope to Monetize, the request is handed to the partner, who enforces access and handles account validation and billing. All other traffic continues to follow your configured Block/Challenge/Allow response policies.
• Can I use multiple partners?
  • No. Monetize supports a single active partner per workspace. All models you configure for Monetize will route to that partner.
